Q: Who can play at Western Little League?
A: Players with a "League Age" of 4-16 who reside or attend school within our boundaries are eligible to play at Western Little League. Visit League Finder to confirm your eligibility. More info on the documents required to establish residency eligibility can be found HERE. Starting in 2025, players League Age 4-7 can play in any league of their family's choice. More information on League Choice can be found HERE.
Q: In which division should I register my child at Western Little League?
A: A player's League Age determines their division. The League Age is the age your child will turn between September 1, 2024 and August 31, 2025. You may verify you child's League Age HERE. We use the 2025 age chart for both the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 seasons. Register for the following divisions based on the player's League Age:
• League Age 4-5: Tee Ball Division
• League Age 6-7: Rookies/Coach-Pitch Division
• League Age 8-12: AA/AAA & Major Divisions
• League Age 13-16: Junior/Senior Division
Q: What if I want my child to play in a division that is higher or lower than his/her League Age?
A: Email the Player Agent at [email protected] for more information and options specific to your request. Generally, League Age 7-year-olds may attend evaluations to play up to AA, with advance permission from the Player Agent. League Age 8-11-year-olds attend evaluations and are drafted into the appropriate division based on ability. League Age 12-year-olds will play in the Major Division.
Q: On which team will my child play?
A: Tee Ball and Rookies/Coach-Pitch Division teams are randomly rostered, so players do not attend evaluations in those younger divisions. You will be notified of your child's team by the Manager, typically within a week after registration closes. AA, AAA, and Major Division teams are rostered through a draft process that is based on a skills assessment conducted at evaluations. You will be notified of your child's team by the Manager within 7-10 days of the evaluation. Junior and Senior Divisions are rostered through a draft process that is based on a skills assessment conducted at evaluations only if there are enough players to create two or more teams in either division. Otherwise, players are rostered to the only team in their division.
Q: What is included in the uniform?
A: Western Little League provides a jersey, hat, socks, and belt for each player. You will purchase your own pants. Your Team Manager will choose the color.
Q: What other equipment will my player need?
A: Players will need a batting helmet, bat, baseball glove, and cleats. Male players will need a protective cup.
Q: What type of bat can my Little Leaguer® use?
A: Bat rules for each Little League division are covered under Rule 1.10. Solid one-piece wood barrel bats do not require a USA Baseball logo, but all non-wood and laminated bats for Major Division and below must meet the USA Baseball Bat Standard requirement. More information about the bat standard may be found HERE.
Q: How are the registration fees spent?
A: Registration fees cover most of the League expenses, including field permits from the City of Las Vegas for practices and games, lights, umpires, pre-game field prep, essential equipment (like baseballs, catcher's gear, and tees), and uniforms. Western Little League is a non-profit 501(c)(3) chartered member of Little League Baseball, Incorporated.
Q: Are Managers, Coaches, Team Moms, or Board Members paid?
A: No. All of these roles are filled by volunteers.
