The Team Manager is the primary point of contact, representative, and decision-maker for the team. Being a manager or an assistant coach requires time, patience, and basic knowledge of the game of baseball. You may be required to attend meetings or instructional sessions. You may need to recruit additional Assistant Coaches and a Team Mom from the family members of your rostered players. You will communicate with the parents to inform them of practice and game schedules, schedule changes, and Western Little League events and activities. You will develop efficient practice plans to focus on skill development and effective utilization of your practice time. Assigning defensive positions, establishing a batting order, and adhering to mandatory play and pitching regulations will also be your responsibility throughout the season.
As a manager or an assistant coach, you have more interaction with young people than anyone else in Little League. Therefore, it is important that you understand the goals and virtues of the Little League program in order to effectively communicate them to your players.
